Todd Jeremey Gilliland was born on May 15, 2000, into a racing family with deep NASCAR connections. His father David Gilliland is both a NASCAR driver and the owner of Tricon Garage, providing Todd with early exposure to the sport's highest levels.

Gilliland's introduction to motorsports began remarkably early. At just three years old, his parents purchased him a pink Barbie Corvette that they later repainted black, complete with modified pedals and an additional battery to boost its speed. This childhood toy became the foundation of what would become a professional racing career.

Junior Career

Following his early experiences with the modified toy car, Gilliland progressed to driving a quarter midget on a neighborhood dirt track. He began competitive racing at age five but took a two-year hiatus at his father's decision, demonstrating the calculated approach the family took to his development.

When Gilliland returned to competition in 2012, he made an immediate impact. He captured championships in the North Carolina Quarter Midget Association and the USAC World Formula National Quarter Midget Championship, while also claiming a West Coast title. His quarter midget career concluded with an impressive tally of 34 wins.

The transition to more powerful machinery came in 2013 when Gilliland began limited late model racing with a three-race schedule. By 2014, he had achieved his breakthrough victories, winning his first limited late model race from pole position at Ace Speedway before capturing his first full late model victory at Southern National Motorsports Park.

Racing Career

Gilliland now competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, wheeling the No. 34 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Front Row Motorsports. His journey from childhood quarter midgets to NASCAR's premier series represents a methodical progression through the sport's various levels.

His early career was marked by championship success across multiple quarter midget series in 2012, establishing him as a rising talent in American motorsports. The transition to late model competition proved equally successful, with breakthrough victories in 2014 setting the stage for his eventual NASCAR career.
