Ross Chastain's NASCAR journey has been marked by strategic moves across different series and teams. His breakthrough came in 2018 when he earned his first Xfinity Series victory at Las Vegas while driving part-time for Chip Ganassi Racing, establishing himself as a competitive force in NASCAR's developmental ranks.
The 2019 season proved pivotal for Chastain as he made a midseason strategic shift to focus on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship with Niece Motorsports. This decision paid dividends immediately, with his first Trucks victory coming at Kansas in May. He followed this breakthrough with additional wins at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway and Pocono Raceway, demonstrating his ability to win on different track types.
Chastain continued his upward trajectory in the Xfinity Series, capturing his second victory at the prestigious Daytona International Speedway while competing for Kaulig Racing. His 2020 campaign saw him take on a full-time role driving the No. 10 Kaulig Racing machine in the Xfinity Series, further developing his skills before making the jump to NASCAR's premier series.
