Pedro Acosta Sánchez was born on 25 May 2004 in Spain. He began his path to motorcycle racing through various national competitions, making his mark early in the sport.

Junior Career

Acosta's junior career began with national competitions where he won the PreMoto3 category in 2017. The following year, he stepped up to compete in the Junior Moto3 World Championship in 2018.

In 2019, Acosta entered the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup alongside his other racing commitments, finishing second overall while winning three races. He returned to dominate the series in 2020, claiming the championship title with six victories - remarkably winning all six races consecutively at the first six races of the season.

Racing Career

Acosta made his Moto3 World Championship debut in 2021, immediately making history by winning his second-ever race at the Doha motorcycle Grand Prix after starting from the pitlane. This remarkable victory set the tone for an exceptional rookie season.

In the same 2021 season, Acosta achieved the extraordinary feat of winning the Moto3 World Championship as a rookie - becoming the first rider to do so since Loris Capirossi in 1990. He also became the second youngest ever champion in the category, missing Capirossi's age record by just one day.

Following his Moto3 success, Acosta moved up to Moto2 and continued his winning ways. In 2023, he clinched the Moto2 world championship with two races still remaining in the season, demonstrating his dominance in the intermediate class.

Acosta has since graduated to MotoGP, where he currently competes for the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, representing the pinnacle of his rapid ascent through motorcycle racing's premier categories.
