Hans Christian Rhod Rasmussen was born on June 29, 2000, in Copenhagen, Denmark. The young Dane would eventually make the bold decision to leave his homeland to pursue racing opportunities in the United States, setting the stage for a career that would take him from Danish national championships to the pinnacle of American open-wheel racing.

Junior Career

Rasmussen's ascent through the junior ranks began in 2016 with the Danish Formula Ford Championship, driving for Frederichsen Sport. His impressive debut season yielded five wins and fifteen podium finishes, securing runner-up honors in the standings. He continued his development in Danish motorsport with the F4 Danish Championship, competing for Magnussen Racing Experience and claiming third place overall with two victories and twelve podium appearances.

The pivotal moment in Rasmussen's career came in 2018 when he made the transatlantic move to compete in the Formula 4 United States Championship with Jay Howard's Motorsports Driver Development. The transition proved successful, as he secured third in the points standings with five race wins and eight podium finishes, establishing himself as a formidable talent on American soil.

Racing Career

Rasmussen's methodical progression through America's Road to Indy ladder system showcased his championship-caliber abilities. After a solid third-place finish in the 2019 U.S. F2000 National Championship with three victories, he delivered a dominant 2020 campaign that announced his arrival as a future star. Winning nine races—including the first six consecutively—and securing eight pole positions, Rasmussen clinched the championship at New Jersey Motorsports Park with two races to spare.

The momentum continued into 2021 with another championship triumph in Indy Pro 2000, where he captured seven wins, two poles, and twelve podium finishes while remaining with Jay Howard Driver Development. His success earned him a coveted seat with Andretti Autosport for the 2022 Indy Lights season, where he claimed victories at Road America and Laguna Seca en route to sixth in the final standings.

Rasmussen's junior career reached its crescendo in 2023 when he switched to HMD Motorsports with Dale Coyne Racing for the newly renamed Indy NXT series. His championship-winning campaign featured five victories, five pole positions, and eight podium finishes, completing his sweep of Road to Indy titles and earning his graduation to the IndyCar Series with Ed Carpenter Racing, where he now pilots the No. 21 Chevrolet-Dallara full-time.
