Brad Binder
Early Life

Born on 11 August 1995 in South Africa, Brad Binder comes from a motorsport family. His younger brother Darryn is also a motorcycle racer, with both siblings competing alongside each other in the Moto3 class during the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
Junior Career
Before reaching Grand Prix level, Binder honed his skills in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, competing for three seasons. His best performance in the development series was a fifth-place overall finish in the championship standings, which served as his stepping stone to the world championship.
Racing Career
Binder's Grand Prix career began in Moto3, where he achieved his breakthrough victory at the 2016 Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix in Jerez. This historic win made him the first South African to win a motorcycle Grand Prix since Jon Ekerold's 350cc class victory at the 1981 Italian motorcycle Grand Prix. Binder went on to claim the 2016 Moto3 World Championship title.
Moving up to Moto2 in 2017 with Ajo Motorsport, Binder spent three seasons in the intermediate class. His most successful campaign came in 2019 with the Ajo KTM team, where he finished as championship runner-up.
Binder's transition to MotoGP in 2020 with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing proved immediately successful. At the 2020 Czech Republic motorcycle Grand Prix, he created history by becoming the first and only South African to win a MotoGP championship race. The victory was particularly significant as it marked KTM's first-ever premier class win and made Binder the first rookie to win in MotoGP since Marc Márquez at the 2013 Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Americas.
