Will Power, who clinched the NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship last year, has signed a new multiyear contract with Team Penske. At 42, Power is entering his 15th season with the team, which has been a defining part of his racing career.
Power’s tenure with Team Penske is decorated, as he has secured 39 of his 41 career wins while racing for this esteemed organization. "I’m so fortunate to have had Verizon on the car for more than a decade and for those guys to re-up and (for me) to re-up with Penske, as well," said Will Power. "I always look back, and I say it often: I’m very fortunate. It’s where you want to be as a driver, in a team where you’re given a car that can win week in and week out."
His achievements extend beyond just a successful partnership; in 2022, Power etched his name in the history books by recording his 68th career pole, surpassing the legendary Mario Andretti's record. With 41 victories, Power is now ranked fifth on the all-time wins list in INDYCAR history, showcasing a remarkable consistency with at least one win in 16 consecutive seasons, which ranks second all time.
Beyond his championship title and pole position records, Power's victory at the 2018 Indianapolis 500 also stands out as one of the highlights of his racing career. As he prepares for the upcoming racing season, he remains a significant figure in the sport.
Looking ahead, the next challenge for Power will be the PPG 375 scheduled for Sunday, April 2, at the Texas Motor Speedway. Coverage will begin at noon ET on NBC, Peacock, and the INDYCAR Radio Network. Power is set to take the wheel of the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet, making this the first oval race of the 2023 season.
As Power continues to extend his legacy with Team Penske, anticipation builds in the INDYCAR community to see how he will perform in the upcoming race and what milestones he might achieve in the years ahead.
