In a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona, United Autosports USA emerged victorious with their #22 Oreca 07, officially crowned winners after a post-race decision elevated them to the top of the podium. This victory marked the first for the team at this prestigious event, following their earlier triumph at the Le Mans 24 Hours just seven months prior, further establishing United Autosports as a powerhouse in the LMP2 category.
Richard Dean, CEO of United Autosports, expressed his pride in the team's accomplishment. "We came to Daytona with one very clear goal and we have achieved it," said Dean. "To win the Rolex 24 at Daytona any year is pretty special, but to win it only a few months after celebrating victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours makes it an extra special moment. Zak and I would like to thank the entire team for their dedication and commitment. We can all be very proud of what we have achieved."
The race weekend kicked off fantastically for Daniel Goldburg, who claimed pole position for the #22, noting the significance of this achievement. "The team, the drivers and I all had a similar feeling on Sunday," said Goldburg. "We knew we should be pleased with pole and second... but we just weren’t. We had executed the race so well, made no mistakes... and then a strange penalty took us out of the fight for the lead right at the end. It took about 36 hours for me to come to terms with it, and I did ultimately feel pleased. Then I got the call to say we've won it! Wow. Just wow. What a start to the season."
As the race drew to a close, Paul Di Resta was at the wheel, capturing the essence of the dramatic finish. "It’s massive to have another 24-hour win!" exclaimed Di Resta. "We’ve achieved the two big ones in LMP2 both with United Autosports in the #22... which is a very cool thing to say. It takes relentless dedication. We felt very hard done by on race day with the penalty – and after watching the video back, it does feel wrong. But we kept fighting, you fight all the way to the very end. It’s massive for the championship - Daniel Goldburg did a remarkable lap to qualify on pole, and now with what we’ve achieved... it’s just huge."
Rasmus Lindh, who joined United Autosports for the season, celebrated his first victory with the team, alongside his growing list of accolades in IMSA. "Incredible!" Lindh exclaimed, emphasizing the significance of the win for the entire crew. "The win we had been wanting for the whole team. It’s just fantastic to be part of this legend of a race."
The victory not only solidifies United Autosports’ reputation but also invigorates their campaign for the rest of the IMSA season. With their unshakeable team spirit and resilience, they look to build on this success in upcoming races.
As the 2025 season progresses, fans and analysts alike will certainly be keeping an eye on United Autosports USA, as they continue to demonstrate their prowess on the racetrack. The combination of strategy, skill, and teamwork will be crucial as they navigate the challenges that lie ahead in their pursuit of further victories.
