The 2016 Rally Australia, formally known as the 25. Kennards Hire Rally Australia 2016, showcased the competitive conclusion of the World Rally Championship season. From November 17 to 20, competitors gathered in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales to tackle a vigorous set of gravel stages. Among them, it was Volkswagen's Andreas Mikkelsen who emerged victorious, sealing his position with a total time of 2:46:05.7.
"Winning this rally means a lot to me, especially being the last race of the season," said Mikkelsen, whose triumphant performance secured his third win in the World Rally Championship.

The event featured 23 stages running a total of 283.36 kilometers, presenting formidable challenges for all drivers. Mikkelsen's consistency and skill allowed him to fend off fierce opposition, including his teammate Sébastien Ogier, who finished just 14.9 seconds behind.

Thierry Neuville from Hyundai finished third, trailing by over a minute. "It was a tough rally, and while I wanted to challenge for the win, I’m pleased with the podium finish," Neuville explained, showcasing the competitive spirit characteristic of the WRC.

As the teams and drivers navigated through the challenging terrains of Coffs Harbour, the excitement ramped up during each leg of the rally.
