In a competitive conclusion to the 2025 Formula 1 season, Lando Norris secured his first world championship despite finishing third at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. While Max Verstappen triumphed in the race, it was Norris’s strategic drive throughout the season that led him to the coveted title.
Verstappen’s victory, achieved with a strong drive, was not enough to dethrone Norris, who had just the points he needed to clinch the championship. "I knew I had to finish in the top three," said Norris. "It’s surreal to finally be a world champion. All the hard work has paid off."
Oscar Piastri, Norris’s fellow McLaren driver, played a key role in the title fight by finishing in second place. Piastri executed a bold maneuver to overtake Norris on the opening lap, showcasing his skill and determination. "I was just focused on my race and doing my best for the team," Piastri remarked. "We push each other to be better, and today was no exception."
