Jorge Martín clinched a commanding victory at the Qatar GP sprint race, with Brad Binder and Aleix Espargaró following closely behind. The event marked a competitive start to the 2024 MotoGP season.

Under the bright lights of the Qatari circuit, the opening sprint race of the 2024 MotoGP season unfolded, showcasing thrilling competition and strategic racing. Jorge Martín, representing Ducati, emerged victorious, dominating the 11-lap race with a confident performance.

"It feels incredible to start the season with a win," said Jorge Martín, reflecting on his triumph. His victory secured him the top spot in the MotoGP standings with 12 points.

Joining Martín on the podium were Brad Binder of KTM and Aleix Espargaró from Aprilia, who finished second and third respectively, marking a strong start for their teams. Binder crossed the finish line just 0.548 seconds behind Martín, while Espargaró trailed only 0.729 seconds after.

The race featured an intense battle for the remaining top spots, with notable competitors like Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Márquez also vying for position. The top ten concluded with Enea Bastianini, Alex Márquez, Pedro Acosta, Maverick Viñales, and Jack Miller, illustrating the competitiveness of this season’s field.

In the context of the Repsol Honda Team, riders Joan Mir and Luca Marini experienced contrasting outcomes. "In the last part of the race we were able to run in the 53 lows and I was catching the second group, which was quite good," Mir stated. "I think tomorrow will give us a chance to show what we can really do, fighting close to the top ten and being there."

Conversely, Luca Marini had a challenging debut with the Repsol Honda Team, finishing 21st. "A strange day speaking honestly because I was not expecting to be so far, nor were the team," Marini expressed. His focus now shifts to improving performance in the upcoming race, as he remains optimistic about future races.
