Jade Edwards is set to rejoin One Motorsport for the second half of the 2023 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season, as announced on July 14. Following a period with Team HARD, the Northampton racer is enthusiastic about returning to the Brackley-based team, where she will compete alongside established drivers Josh Cook and Aiden Moffat under the Starline Racing with One Motorsport banner.
Having previously driven for One Motorsport in 2021 and 2022, Edwards has fond memories with the team. She managed to secure several points finishes and won the Jack Sears Trophy at Oulton Park during her tenure. "I’m delighted to be returning to One Motorsport for the second half of the season," she expressed.
Edwards took a moment to acknowledge her time with Team HARD, remarking, "I do want to say a big thank you to everyone at Team HARD for their hard work and commitment; we’ve ended things on good terms and there is nothing but respect between us."
Eager to hit the ground running, Edwards noted, "Being able to re-join One is something that I’m really excited about, and I’m grateful that we’ve been able to work out a deal to make it happen. Having already spent two years with the team, it feels like home and I’m going back to familiar surroundings, which can only be a positive."
Despite the changes made to the car since her last race with the team, Edwards remains highly optimistic about her performance. "I’m confident that with the proven track record of the team, as well as the experience of Josh and Aiden, that I’ll be able to hit the ground running when we get to Croft in a couple of weeks," she stated.
The team owner, Steve Dudman, expressed enthusiasm over Edwards's return, saying, "We are very pleased to welcome Jade back to One Motorsport where her energy, professionalism and genuine enthusiasm provide a great vibe throughout the whole team."
Dudman also highlighted the dedicated support behind Edwards, remarking, "One Motorsport recognizes the fantastic support that she has from some great people behind her, all of whom have provided support to secure this move."
Reflecting on her prior involvement with One Motorsport, Dudman shared, "We originally had a long-term plan in place across 2021 and 2022 to demonstrate that her diversity into the team was not a box-ticking exercise but a real chance in a highly competitive car to prove herself."
Looking ahead, Dudman noted, "We’re hoping that we can use this second chance to find Jade further strong support for the rest of the season and then for future years because she has so much to offer."
The next round of the 2023 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship is set to take place at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire, scheduled for July 29-30. As the championship continues, all eyes will be on Jade Edwards to see how she leverages her experience and familiarity with the team to elevate her performance and contributions for One Motorsport.
