Brando Badoer is making waves in the motorsport scene as a young talent in FIA Formula 3. Born in Montebelluna, Italy, Brando’s interest in racing was sparked early on, fueled by his lineage as the son of the former Formula 1 driver Luca Badoer. His journey demonstrates not only a familial connection to racing but also a burgeoning skill set that has quickly distinguished him in a competitive field.
"I’ve always been passionate about racing, and having my father as an inspiration has shaped my career," said Brando Badoer, showcasing his deep-rooted connection to the sport.
In his early years, Badoer developed his skills in karting, where he secured a number of podium finishes and championships. These successes laid a solid foundation for his later transition to single-seater racing.
His foray into Formula 4 in 2022 with the Van Amersfoort Racing team proved pivotal. Competing in selected rounds of the F4 UAE and Italian championships, Brando said, "Every race is a new learning experience, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to compete and improve."
Brando’s growth was underscored by a significant achievement: finishing sixth in the F4 UAE series, alongside a podium finish at the Dubai Autodrome, where he claimed third place. He recalled, "Standing on the podium for the first time was surreal; it reaffirmed my belief that I'm on the right path."
As he transitioned further into motorsport, Brando moved into Formula Regional, racing with the Van Amersfoort team and participating in both the Middle East Championship and the European Championship by Alpine in 2024. Reflecting on this step, he noted, "Each category presents unique challenges, and I am eager to prove myself at every level."
Badoer's next chapter leads him to the prestigious FIA Formula 3, where he will race with Prema Racing while also being a part of the McLaren Driver Development Programme. His ascent continues as he prepares for the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2025.
Brando's performances thus far have been impressive, including notable finishes such as a sixth in the Budapest Sprint Race and seventh in the Feature Race during the FIA Formula 3 Championship. He expressed excitement about the upcoming season, stating, "I am ready to give it my all and showcase my abilities on such a grand stage."
His schedule is packed, featuring various races at renowned tracks. Badoer achieved a commendable second place in his opening race of the Formula R Middle East Championship in Abu Dhabi on January 23, 2025, followed by a strong climb to third in Race 2 on the same day. Recalling the experience, he said, "Racing in Abu Dhabi is incredible; the atmosphere and the track itself push me to perform at my best."
In addition to his achievements, Brando is focused on ongoing improvement and learning from each encounter on the track. He plans to leverage his experience to tackle upcoming challenges successfully. "Every race provides a chance to grow, and I'm grateful for the lessons along the way," he affirmed.
