In an exhilarating finale to the 2025 Moto3 season, Adrian Fernandez secured his first victory at the Valencia Grand Prix, earning the Leopard Racing team a much-awaited win. The event, taking place at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit during round twenty-two of the championship, was the ideal stage for Fernandez to demonstrate his potential as a fierce competitor.
Beginning the race from pole position after 86 Grand Prix starts, Fernandez was determined to end his team's recent drought. "I was focused from the start and knew I had to defend my position from the beginning to the end," said Fernandez. His teammate, David Almansa, who had placed second on the starting grid, joined him in setting a fast pace early in the race.
However, the dynamics shifted dramatically when Fernandez made a bold move on Almansa, pushing him wide and forcing him down to sixth place. "It was a tough maneuver, but I knew I had to take it to secure my place at the front," said Fernandez. After that, he maintained his lead against several challengers, ultimately finishing the race with a slim margin of just 0.286 seconds.
Taiyo Furusato, who started ninth on the grid, proved to be a formidable competitor. He worked his way through the pack and set race lap records as he joined the leading group. "I was pushing hard to catch up, but rules are rules. I guess I was just too eager to win," Furusato stated after touching the track limits on the final lap, which led to a time penalty. Despite his efforts, he was relegated to third position.
Furusato's misfortune opened the door for Alvaro Carpe to claim second place after a thrilling finish. Carpe, who saw his title-winning teammate, Jose Antonio Rueda, supporting him from the sidelines, made a remarkable last-corner move to secure his spot. "I just gave it my all in that last corner, it was my shot and I took it," said Carpe with evident pride.
Further back in the pack, a slew of rookies and seasoned riders battled for points in what would be a chaotic final race of the season. Maximo Quiles, a recent winner in Portugal, started the race from the front row but faced setbacks. "I thought I could maintain my position, but track limits got the better of me in the end," Quiles said, finishing fifth. Guido Pini, starting from 17th, made an impressive surge to finish fourth, showcasing his developing skills as a rookie.
As the race unfolded, Almansa initially led a group trying to close the gap on Fernandez but ultimately finished in eighth after encountering track limit penalties. "It was disappointing not to be able to stay with the leaders, but we’ll improve next time," Almansa reflected.
Angel Piqueras finished sixth despite a push for position that also led to a warning. "Every race is a lesson, and I'm glad I could keep the pace with the frontrunners," Piqueras remarked. Luca Lunetta and Marco Morelli rounded out the top ten, witnessing the fireworks from the front.
The race’s competitive nature not only concluded the Moto3 season with a dramatic flair but also provided insights into the upcoming talents of the championship. Jesus Rios, stepping in for Riccardo Rossi at the Rivacold Snipers Team, secured a top-ten finish in his debut. "Getting a top-ten is always an achievement, especially being a fill-in rider. It was a great opportunity," Rios said.
As the season wraps up with Fernandez celebrating his significant victory, the young riders continue to hone their skills as they look ahead to future competitions.
