"It’s definitely special to win for my own team for the first time," said Christopher Bell, reflecting on his impressive feat. Starting from the eighth position, Bell executed a strategic maneuver, overtaking fellow racer Ryan Bernal with just five laps to go. The seasoned driver employed a well-timed slider during a late restart to claim his victory, marking his ninth career prelim win at the Chili Bowl Nationals.
C.J. Leary, who began the race in the pole position, also took advantage of the final restart, moving past Bernal in the closing laps. "It was a fight out there, but I’m thrilled to be locking into Saturday’s main event," said Leary after finishing in second place.
Spencer Bayston and Kyle Cummins rounded out the top five, demonstrating their consistent performance amid the intense competition. "Every position counts, and we’re just trying to stack up as many points as we can heading into the finals," commented Bayston.
