In an exhilarating 450SX main event at the 55th Daytona Supercross, Ken Roczen emerged victorious with a time of 21:58.169. The event, held at the iconic Daytona International Speedway in Daytona, Florida, on March 1, 2025, highlighted Roczen’s prowess on his Suzuki bike, securing first place ahead of a fiercely competitive lineup.
"This win is amazing; Daytona has always been special to me," said Ken Roczen, reflecting on his triumph. "I had to push hard and focus each lap, but the feeling crossing that finish line is indescribable."
Chasing Roczen was Cooper Webb, who clocked in at 22:03.218. "I gave it my all, and there were moments I thought I could catch him, but Ken rode flawlessly today," said Webb. The Newport, North Carolina native on his Yamaha bike did all he could but ultimately finished over five seconds behind.
Aaron Plessinger of Hamilton, Ohio, came in third with a time of 22:07.280. "My bike was dialed in, and I felt good out there, but it’s tough to keep up with the front guys when they have that kind of pace," Plessinger remarked. With his KTM, he displayed agility and determination, maintaining a strong performance throughout the race.
The competition for the top positions didn't stop there. Justin Cooper finished just shy of the podium in fourth place, with a time of 22:07.647. "I was right there, but I need to find that extra gear to push through in these intense races," he stated after the event.
Chase Sexton, who crossed the finish line fifth in 22:17.203, also shared his thoughts on his performance. "I think I could have done better; I felt I had the speed early on, but the longer the race went, I struggled to keep up. It's a learning experience," said Sexton, who navigated the circuit on his KTM.
The race reflected the tight-knit nature of the competition in the AMA Supercross Championship, where just fractions of a second separated the racers. Malcolm Stewart and Justin Hill rounded out the top seven places, signifying the depth of talent featured in this thrilling series. Stewart clocked a time of 22:18.082 while Hill finished with 22:31.675.
As the series progresses, the riders will be looking forward to continue building their standings. The next races are scheduled for Denver on May 3 and Salt Lake City on May 10. With the intensity of the championship building, competitors are eager to improve each week.
"The season is still young, and there’s plenty of racing left, but I’m feeling confident moving forward," said Roczen about his championship aspirations. His recent win could be pivotal as the riders gear up for a series of challenges ahead.
The Daytona Supercross this year once again proved to be a significant event in the Motocross calendar, attracting fans and competitors eager for high-speed action and tight racing. As the athletes return from Florida, all eyes will be on them to see who can maintain momentum in their pursuit of the championship title.
Looking ahead, the thrill of the upcoming races promises more excitement as the riders' competition heats up.
