The 2024 Supercars Championship is set to enter an exciting phase as the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint approaches. Scheduled for August 16 to 18 at the renowned Symmons Plains International Raceway, this event marks the eighth round of the championship.
Symmons Plains, located in Perth, Tasmania, features a 2400-meter anti-clockwise circuit complemented by seven challenging corners. This venue is known for its thrilling races and intense competition, making it a favorite among drivers and fans alike.
Cameron Waters from Monster Castrol Racing shared his anticipation for the upcoming event, stating, "We're really looking forward to it. Symmons is always a blast to race at, and every lap counts as we aim to climb the standings."
The atmosphere is electric as various teams prepare their entries for the event. The entry list showcases a mix of seasoned drivers and promising newcomers. Notable names include Nick Percat from Bendix Racing, who is set to pilot the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Gen3, and Aaron Love of CoolDrive Racing, driving the Ford Mustang GT Gen3.
"Every competitor brings their A-game at Symmons Plains, and I'm ready for the challenge ahead," said Aaron Love, reflecting the competitive spirit shared among the drivers.
In addition to Percat and Love, the driver lineup also features Mark Winterbottom from DeWalt Racing and Brodie Kostecki of Erebus Motorsport, both vying for top positions. "The intensity of this round always surprises me. You have to stay sharp and focused the entire time," noted Winterbottom.
Ryan Wood and Chaz Mostert, racing for Mobil 1 Optus Racing and Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing, respectively, also have their sights set on podium finishes. "Symmons Plains is unique; the layout really tests your skill. I love racing here," commented Mostert.
The field also includes drivers such as Bryce Fullwood from Middy's Racing and Matthew Payne from Penrite Racing. Fullwood will drive the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Gen3 while Payne will be behind the wheel of the Ford Mustang GT Gen3. Both express enthusiasm for the competitive edge that the SuperSprint offers.
"The atmosphere keeps the adrenaline high; it's fantastic to compete on this stage alongside such talented drivers," Fullwood remarked, highlighting the community within the sport.
As fans gear up for the event, track officials are preparing for a thrilling weekend filled with high-octane racing. With the weather forecast looking promising, the conditions for racing could not be better.
"This is the midpoint of the season, and every point matters as we head towards the championship conclusion," said a representative from the Supercars Championship organization. "We expect a lot of surprises and intense battles on the track."
